*the colored HDPE hour/minute markers have a hidden steel ball on the rear apex of the curve. The hour and minute hands contain magnets, and rest behind the powder coated aluminum face plate which causes little interference with the magnets. Teflon is incorporated into the coating to increase durability and ensure easy gliding of the steel balls. The entire assembly is sandwiched between the front assembly bolt that screws into the mechanical housing which is hard attached to the rear plate and overhangs the ABS shell. In addition, there are dots of clear 3M VHB tape to help hold the glass in place, along with signifying points of the hours.
I was interested in finding ways to hide any mechanical aspects, along with creating situations for geometry to play a strong role in the design and perception of time.
